Cottier creates designs characteristic of the 'Sydney School'. Although he uses brick and timber construction to accommodate the abilities of typical Australian construction worker, he creates innovative forms with these traditional materials.	Its curved forms are accentuated by the giant ribbon of steel sheet roof that sweeps up above the 3- or 5-storey boxed stands and then down over the lower-level terraces. The roof is supported on a series of steel trusses, which in turn carry the weight of the roof down concrete-encased stanchions
