Good for knowledge and study practice
This book gave me a variety of problems that were so much harder than the exam. I didn't enjoy most of it but it may have helped make the exam seem easy because it was so much more involved. You also learn a lot of pitfalls while solving longer and harder problems. Given the exam difficulty and reworked of the format after 2015, this book is harder. Gaswami's problems that came out after are more representative of what the exam was. However, it doesn't hurt to practice with these exams during studying so that you can figure out where you're weak or need to supplement your knowledge. They don't work so much though as a representative 8hr test but really good for study practice. So I think it is worth the purchase.

The breadth exams were a good representative of what I actually encountered in the October 2013 exam as well as the construction focus sections. The practice exam problems were harder and took longer to work than the actual one, so being able to work the practice questions in under 6 minutes will leave you with plenty of time to go back and check your work.
Tabbing my CERM with each of the subjects encountered in the practice exams was helpful and helped me quickly reference the material for similar products.
My only regret is I did not have enough time to take each of the practice depth exams.

I got this book because I needed extra practice for the Civil Engineering P.E. Exam - and it was just what I needed! Unlike some prep materials, the practice problems were useful because they were about the same difficulty as the actual P.E. exam, not 10x harder. I did not buy it with the companion reference book, but did not miss it. Even though this book was printed in 2012 and the P.E. exam that I took has been updated, the questions were still mostly relevant.
