Book Description

This book gives freshman engineering students a solid foundation for all their future coursework. It provides an overview to the engineering profession and of the skills they will need to develop, as well as an introduction to fundamental engineering topics such as thermodynamics, rate processes, and Newton's laws. An important aspect of the book's approach is the method of Engineering Accounting, which casts the basic conservation laws (e.g., of energy or mass) as simple "accounting" procedures. This is a unifying concept that facilitates problem-solving across all engineering disciplines.

5Good Book
By Amazon Customer
I needed this book for my intro to engineering class, and it's actually a pretty good textbook. Every chapter includes neat biographies of important engineers and physicists, and has more example problems than most people will ever need. I only did a handful of the example problems, but they were all pretty interesting for what they are.

4Very good engineering textbook
By Daniel Files
Well done textbook for engineering majors. Covers a wide variety of topics, making it great for both introductory levels as well as advanced levels in engineering college years. This can serve as an decent reference guide, too. Also details a lot of historical background regarding engineering, too.

Worth checking out for engineering students.

2Dont buy unless you have to
By Connor Hill
I had to buy it for a college class. This book was filled with grammatical and mathematical errors. It even had a few formulas written down wrong. Not much useful knowledge in the book that you wouldnt learn from other engineering classes.
