5Great Buy!

If you have a strong back and don't mind the bulk, this combination version is far cheaper than buying both individually. As with any textbook, there are a few errors in the text and problems, but they're usually apparent. The fundamental problems are worked step by step in the back of the book so you can always reference similar problems when doing homework. Dynamics might kill me, but the book was still a great buy.

1Just another awful text book.

This book is awful. The author should have explained several topics better, the a lot of the diagrams are too small, the equations and writing all run together making everything hard to read. I've compared my book to two others and there are no differences between this edition and the 10th and 12th editions. If you can buy a different book.

4It's a textbook

Textbooks are all pretty much the same, written a little above the level of the layman or novice to the subject. Paired with a good instructor the book is informative and the exercises productive. Fundamental problems come with partial solution walkthroughs and all final answers are in the back. Good for learning methods and catching you negative signs and simple errors. Like all engineering textbooks the focus is on the methods not the final answer.
