Book Description

The Leading Guide To Process Safety Now Extensively Updated For Today’s Processes And Systems

style="margin: 0px;">

style="margin: 0px;">

style="margin: 0px;">As chemical processes have grown more complex, so have the safety systems required to prevent accidents. Chemical Process Safety, Third Edition, offers students and practitioners a more fundamental understanding of safety and the application required to safely design and manage today’s sophisticated processes.

style="margin: 0px;">

style="margin: 0px;">The third edition continues the definitive standard of the previous editions. The content has been extensively updated to today’s techniques and procedures, and two new chapters have been added. A new chapter on chemical reactivity provides the information necessary to identify, characterize, control, and manage reactive chemical hazards. A new chapter on safety procedures and designs includes new content on safely management, and specific procedures including hot work permits, lock-tag-try, and vessel entry.

  • Inherently safer design
  • Toxicology and industrial hygiene
  • Toxic release and dispersion models
  • Fires and explosions, and how to prevent them
  • Reliefs and relief sizing
  • Hazard identification
  • Risk assessment
  • Safe designs and procedures

4Brand New, Same Chapters, Problems are mixed up
By Bryan H.
The book was brand new and looked great. The chapters are all identical to the US edition, and so far all of the same problems are in the book. However, the problems are out of order from the US edition which can lead to confusing HW assignments, but it's pretty easy to figure out how they switched. Overall a great deal on this book

5Great book for application of process safety
By Cassie Campbell
Great book if you are looking to learning practical application of process safety. The book has pretty much no derivations and cuts straight to the chase. All equations are summarized well and the use of each equation is well noted.

4great book
By Gulya
I bought this book for the class. I liked the contents a lot. It covers broad variety of topics all useful for a chemical engineer. Lots of examples. One thing I didn't like about the book, is that it has some errors in the formulas. I already used couple of things there for real technical tasks. (I am still a student)
