Book Description

The Most Comprehensive Book for the Computer-Based Electrical and Computer FE Exam

The FE Electrical and Computer Review Manual offers complete coverage of Electrical and Computer FE exam knowledge areas and the relevant elements—equations, figures, and tables—from the NCEES FE Reference Handbook. With 15 mini-exams to assess your grasp of the exam’s knowledge areas, and concise explanations of thousands of equations and hundreds of figures and tables, the Review Manual contains everything you need to succeed on the Electrical and Computer FE exam.

The Review Manual organizes the Handbook elements logically, grouping related concepts that the Handbook has in disparate locations. All Handbook elements are shown in blue for easy identification. Equations and their associated variations and values are clearly presented. Descriptions are succinct and supported by exam-like sample problems, with step-by-step solutions to reinforce the theory and application of fundamental concepts. Thousands of terms are indexed to facilitate cross-referencing.

If you are preparing for a different FE exam, choose Michael R. Lindeburg, PE’s FE Civil Review Manual, FE Mechanical Review Manual, FE Other Disciplines Review Manual, or FE Review Manual.

4Adequate tool for helping in your studying efforts for the FE ELEC AND COMP CBT
By awesomenesss
There are many things I liked about this book listed below, however, there were some I did not like so I will list what I didn't like first. I didn't like how the book dumbs down some of the topics, like Control Systems. This took me by surprise in the Exam because there were a good number of Control Systems questions. Book code from the back does not work in the website. I tried my code multiple times with no success. I believe some of the copies are perhaps fake or giving reused numbers, however, the content of the book aided in my studying.

Now the good stuff:
I bought this text book about 3 months before my perceived FE Electrical and Computer Exam. I took the CBT exam. I appreciate what the author did in collecting all the resources in this book. This is a great REVIEW book. You will go through every section that will be in the exam at a good thorough level which is needed for the exam. There are a couple of sections that are still in the book that are not part of the 2014 NCEES FE Electrical and Computer CBT Index. For instance, statics, thermodynamics, mechanics are all topics that are briefly reviewed in the textbook, however, they are not part of the exam as the sections tested on are clearly stated in the NCEES Index. I skipped these particular sections entirely. While the book is a great resource, and most likely all you need if you studied from a decent engineering school, I know folks from many other schools that did the same level of practice I did, and still failed. When I asked them if they had known about certain topics, for example Computer Memory, architecture and cache, they were completely surprised. Hence, I think some schools are not teaching enough content, but to each their own. If you went through this book, through the reference manual which is provided to you in the exam which you can use to study with this book, know how to use your calculator for complex variables, matrices, vectors, equation solving, computer numbering, boolean logic, and followed up by practicing from free questions that you can find online through many websites to self-assess yourself, you should have no troubles in passing this exam. Here are some resources that can provide you additional help for studying and assessing yourself:

Raiya Academy's videos, take this with a grain of salt because some of the solutions and processes are not very straight forward or accurate, but still a great resource since her examples are tougher than what is in the test and prepares you well:

I would try and do many of the math problems from these online tests, as well as anything related to the Elec and Comp Index:

Hope this helps!

3Decent Book To Help Prepare You
By S
Book does an okay job covering the topics for the FE exam. I used this book to study for about 3 months using this book and used another book as well to help me and I passed the Exam.

Some of the topics are briefly covered which is fine for stuff like mathematics and ethics but other more important ones need more description. Looking at the Specs for the Electrical and Computer Exam this book cover topics which are not needed for the exam, and also leaves topics out. So be sure to look.

However this book along with another one helped me pass.

Now on to the book itself.
I used this book as well as the online book at the same time. As I was getting halfway through the book, the book started to fall apart. The pages would fall out and the binding was weak.

By the time I finished the book majority of the pages were falling out and had to be glued back together.

1Good, but not Worth the Insane Price.
By Amazon Customer
This book provides a good review of material, though I am extremely irritated by the misleading labeling of the back cover. It does NOT include the Practice Exam, Assessments, Flashcards, or Quiz Bank advertised on the back cover. These are, however, available for an additional purchase of about $85 each. I was able to justify the absurdly high price of this book because I was led to believe that the preceding would be included in the price. I feel duped, and am absolutely livid with The Power to Pass.
